What are the Street Jazz & Lyrical Jazz dance classes ?
Street Jazz :
Street Jazz is a commercial dance style that uses moves from Jazz and Hip Hop styles. It is created in dance studios in New York City, unlike Hip Hop that originated in the streets. This style is often used on pop and video concert stages. For this style of dance, fashionable or current music is used, such as Pop and R & B music. It can be famous singers such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande or Lady Gaga, among others.
Street Jazz includes jazz and hip-hop steps with very well coordinated movements to the music. The steps, moves are performed and chosen to emphasize musicality as well as the precise execution of the steps. Likewise, “street jazz” depends very much on the style of the teacher and the steps he or she uses to create his or her unique and particular choreography.
Street Jazz classes aim to learn choreography and are based on the development of the student’s attitude and personality. Unlike Modern’Jazz which is a more academic style of Jazz dance, Street Jazz allows for more variation in movement.
What are the advantages of Street Jazz? You gain control, precision and stance. Street Jazz allows you to have more self-confidence, musicality, rhythm and coordination. This style of dance also allows you to free yourself from stress as well as to tone your body more easily.
The Lyrical Jazz :
Emotion and Sensation Dance… The ” Lyrical Jazz “. Lyrical Jazz is a style of dance created by the fusion of ballet and jazz.
Music and lyrics are used to perform powerful movements expressing emotions and feelings. The style focuses on the expressiveness and precision of the dances.
The Lyrical Jazz is a style full of personality and very technical where techniques of contemporary classical and jazz are mixed. In addition to being highly technical, the great importance in musicality and intention, should not be forgotten.
Lyrical Jazz is extremely aesthetic and involves the whole body. Quite a lot of moves are done on the floor. Tricks, jumps and flexibility are also practiced.
Finally, the choreographic work is also done at the level of interpretation. Interpretation and appropriate style are essential. The words and the intention of the subject are as important as the rhythm, in order to obtain choreographic results full of intention..
What are the Street Dance style dance classes?
Street Dance refers to dance styles first practiced in major cities. Usually outside formal dance academies and influenced by African-American culture. At the moment, we find more and more private Street Dance classes, but also group classes.
The African-American culture gives birth to hip hop, locking, b-boying, popping and many other styles. In all these styles, improvisation (free style) is especially important. The goal is to use the music and the emotion of the moment to direct the dance.
Therefore, it is very common for street dancers to participate in competitions based on improvisation. Over time, these dances become more sophisticated. Today, the study of the techniques of these dance styles is becoming more and more common.
